Map.
2.) When can I expect my tree after I
order it?
To ensure that your tree arrives
in the best condition, we ship USPS (Priority Mail) so that it does not
sit in transit. Normal orders typically take approximately two
weeks to process.
3.) What size will my tree be when it is
shipped to me?
You will be shipped either rootstock, or a six and
ten inches seedling or dormant seedling. This depends primarily on the time of year
and your growing zone. We also offer larger mature trees, but
generally don't recommend them. This is because a young seedling
or root stock adepts to its environment much quicker than a mature tree.
Giving it a exception survival rate. Plus, in a matter of a few
months, during the first growing season the tree can reach up to 10 feet
in height.
4.) What if my plant does not live?
We guarantee that every tree we
ship is of the finest quality and that your order has been carefully
handled and shipped to ensure that you receive a healthy tree. However,
it is virtually impossible to achieve 100% survival rate with any living
plant. This is why your tree(s) come with a 90 day
guarantee, even if your dog digs it up. Just send it back or provide a picture verifying that it did not survive and include a check covering the shipping and handling cost of your replacement trees.
5.) How far apart should I space my trees
if I purchase more than one?
Empress
Trees thrive in direct sunlight, and by utilizing proper spacing you can
achieve a full crown. The farther apart you place them, the larger
the trees will become. When growing for timber, we recommend a distance of 16 to 20 feet apart. When growing for residential purposes and privacy screens, grow your trees approximately 9 feet apart.
6.) What time of year should I plant my
Empress Tree?
The Empress Tree can be planted throughout the year in various areas of
the country. It can be
planted while dormant in the winter or while growing in
the spring, summer or fall. We recommend that when you receive
your tree, you care for it in a gallon container so that it can adjust
to your environment. Also, all of our trees come with our “Quick Start
Grower’s Guide” so that your tree has the best possible growth.
7.) How big will my tree eventually grow?
With any tree, surrounding
conditions play a role in its growth. Without a lot of competition for
sunlight, your Empress Tree will settle at a height of 30 to 50 feet and a width of 20 to 30 feet.
To reduce the potential height of your tree, trim the top of the tree to
slow its growth.
8.) What are the characteristics of the
Empress Tree’s lumber?
This particular wood is light and
durable with a very straight grain. It does not warp or split. It is
fire resistant and is an excellent insulator of heat and cold. Its wood
has been used to build boats, guitars and surfboards. An interesting
footnote is that after ten years, you can cut the tree near its base and
watch the stump grow into a new tree. To find out more, visit (PaulowniaSupply.com

9.) Are Empress Trees wind resistant?
Would they be a good tree to build a wind barrier or sight barrier with?
Empress Trees are known for its
deep and advanced root system which can reach as far as 40 feet deep
into the ground. The Empress Tree has been used as a wind block. The
tree’s surrounding conditions will determine its effectiveness at
blocking winds. Also, by quickly reaching its desired heights,
Empress Trees make quick and effective sight barriers as well. We
recommend planting them 9 feet apart to form a natural wall.
10.) Will an Empress Tree disturb its
surroundings?
The Empress Tree's roots grow deep
into the ground in search of water. They're generally friendly to
their surrounding environment. As with any tree, you want to plant
at least three feet from foundations such as sidewalks, roads,
fences, septic systems and other obstructions. When planting for
shade near your home, you need to account the canopy of the tree in
three years. It is generally recommended that you plant any shade
tree at least ten feet away from your home.

particularly susceptible to insect problems. The best defense with any
tree is to start out with good soil, good feeding and keeping the tree
from getting too much water.
